Winter has arrived, right on cue but, as the image above shows, autumn has lingered a little longer. This is a street that runs off mine and, without fail, it puts on a beautiful show throughout autumn. But even at other times of the year, perhaps especially immediately after autumn on those bleak winter days when the trees are bare, it’s striking. I can certainly thank my dogs for getting me out more than I otherwise would have been these past 20-plus years, walking my local streets and really seeing the changes that happen throughout the year. It’s often here I find inspiration for my paintings.
Some of my works have been selected for a couple of shows later this month, which is always wonderful news to receive. One is the ‘Winter Salon’ at Gallery Lane Cove; the other, ‘Small Things’ at the lovely new ‘& Something Else’ gallery in Manly. But there are a few others also coming up, with all details listed below. Hornsby Art Society’s Members’ Exhibition will be on soon and, as I mentioned last month, a selection of paintings from my ‘Gumleaf Collection’ will be on show and for sale soon at Marie-France, in the lovely Philip Mall in West Pymble. If you’re a little further north (perhaps visiting the beautiful Hunter Valley for some winter wine-tasting), the annual Singleton Art Prize isn’t far away. Here’s all you’ll need to know …
