I received a wonderful ‘We are delighted to confirm …’ email just before Christmas. (It never stops being the most welcome sort of work-related email to land in my Inbox!) I’d submitted an entry for a selection of works from ‘The Gumleaf Collection’ to be exhibited for a number of weeks in the Sydney offices of law firm Hall & Wilcox, and was accepted. Wonderful news indeed!
And although those paintings are already complete, a new year means other new opportunities, and so what I am fortunate enough to call my ‘job’ continues! On the exhibition horizon I also have my ‘Showcase at the Studios’ throughout February – the studios being those of Julie Peadon, in Drummoyne, and my works will be displayed in Julie’s studio windows. Sydney’s Royal Easter Show will be here again in no time, too (unlike Hot Cross Buns, which were available here on Boxing Day!).
Over the past weeks, I’ve been working on a few watercolours that aren’t intended to fit in any of my series, one of which is shown above. I painted a similar watercolour in miniature many years ago, after photographing this gorgeous image late afternoon while I’d been away for a couple of days. Since then I’ve wanted to do it again, because not only was it was a gorgeous image at the time, it remains a beautiful memory. This one is larger than my first, but again a joy to paint.
